Why the people of Tabaristan (Taparistan and now called Mazandaran) are the hardiest of Persians (Iranians)...
They remind me of people in West Virginia in the United States, because they are hardy people who live in a very lush green and mountainous area that has kept itself isolated from outside influences.
The Taparistanis were originally Iranian Pagans and Christians who later converted to Zoroastrianism and then later to Shia Islam directly not because of warfare, but because of the Shia Imams who migrated there and taught them about Islam. They have some connections to their Sarmatian, Scythian, and Parthian ancestors who were excellent horsemen and knights. Infact the concept of the Armored Knight was brought about by these Iranian Northerners who's Knights were called "Ghulluns". Probably resembling "Ghuls" or armored giants of Northern Iranian mythology.
The great Pahlavans of Persia come from this region, some of the best wrestlers to this day come from Mazandaran. Infact, the Shah of Iran was a Mazandarani. The people of Tabaristan are proud people who do not give in or subjugate easily. That is why they were the last to convert from Paganism and Christianity to Zoroastrianism and the last Zoroastrians to convert to Islam. Because they will not convert by force...
Iran as a whole was not converted to Islam by force, infact it was Arab policy not to promote conversion among Persians because they were afraid that they would become better Muslims than them. Many of the Arabs that had invaded Iran did so not on the order of the Prophet Muhammad and his progeny, but rather on the orders of Arab Imperialists under the guise of Muslims. Regardless, the Arabs were seen by the NON-ELITE Persians as saviors and emancipators from the corrupt Sassanid Dynasty that had created a huge gap between the rich and poor...kinda like what you see in Beverly Hills by the same Monarchist Iranians.
Iranians love Islam (real Iranians from poor to middle class). The rich Iranians who don't care about Iran but instead about their own pocket books and prestige do not care about a religion like Islam that teaches SOCIAL JUSTICE.
Anyway, going back on subject...Mazandaranis may be even liberal people,but that is because they are independent thinkers and do not follow the popular status quo. They don't care about 'looking cool' in front of others and to act like to be cool you have to 'bash Islam' like so many ex-patriots who come from families that they are ashamed of. They think to be religious is not classy, you have to be a whore or giggalo in Los Angeles and throw Play Boy parties in order to actually be somebody.
But here is the funny thing, real American think that the exaggerated Iranians in Los Angeles are pathetic and sad. I know, because I grew up as an American my whole life. These people look like stooges in front of Americans, why you may ask?
BECAUSE...
AMERICANS DO NOT RESPECT PEOPLE WHO DO NOT RESPECT THEMSELVES.
If you are ashamed of Islam and being an Iranian...that makes you look like a fool in front of Americans. Americans dislike such cheap, immoral, unethical, and self loathing people. Because Americans are WINNERS, they do not like to lose and they do not like to associate with self loathing losers who hate their own kind. Because if they can hate their own kind, then they can hate Americans if they become Americans!
America espouses real Islamic values...because unlike European countries, America is still a conservative Christian filled country. Americans do not like immorality, eventhough THE JEWISH ZIONIST ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY would like them all to turn into Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, and Brittany Spears.
