Iran condemns Israel's threats

Iran condemns Israel's threats Fri, 11 Apr 2008 12:44:50

Iran's UN envoy, Mohammad KhazaeiIran condemns recent remarks by an Israeli minister, threatening to destroy the nation if Tehran launches an attack on the regime. "The Israel regime continues making impudent threats against Iran. As another sign of terrorist nature of the regime, Israel's national infrastructure minister (Benjamin Ben-Eliezer), in his April 7 remarks which blatantly violated international law and the UN Charter, threatened the Iranian nation with destruction," Iran's UN envoy, Mohammad Khazaei said. Certainly, these "shameless remarks", which follow earlier claims by other Israeli officials, constitute serious breach of the rules enshrined in the United Nations' Charter, prohibiting use of force by a country against another nation, Khazaei wrote in a letter to the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the Security Council. The Iranian envoy further called on the Security Council to react to the Israeli remarks and force the Zionist regime to avoid threatening a UN member state in the future. Khazaei warned the international body's inactiveness would "embolden the regime to continue its dangerous policies and remarks." "An Iranian attack against Israel would trigger a tough reaction that would lead to the destruction of the Iranian nation," Ben-Eliezer, a member of prime minister Ehud Olmert's security cabinet, said on April 7.
